HGEA Endorses Mazie Hirono for Senate

Given Mazie Hirono’s incredibly strong track record as a voice for working families, the Hawaii Government Employees Association has taken the bold step of endorsing her more than a year before Election Day. For the HGEA, early endorsements are rare and only given to those candidates who have demonstrated a solid record of support for Hawaii’s workers.

Now more than ever, we need leaders who will stand up for the middle-class and support bold, sensible solutions to put people back to work and put our nation back on track. That’s what I believe, it’s what the 28,000 HGEA workers I’m proud to represent believe, and it’s what middle-class families believe.

HGEA is on board with Mazie. Are you?

Please join me in supporting Mazie Hirono’s fight for Hawaii’s middle-class families: Contribute to Mazie’s campaign before her big fundraising deadline at midnight tomorrow (Hawaii Time)!

Of course, HGEA is not the only organization of Hawaii’s workers that is lending endorsements — and momentum — to Mazie’s campaign as she approaches Friday night’s critical campaign fundraising deadline. We’re proud to join workers from the Hawaii AFL-CIO, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, Laborers Local 368, Seafarers, and the Hawaii Carpenters Union — as well as powerful progressive groups like EMILY’s List and the Council for a Livable World.

These organizations’ members see the same thing we see in Mazie: a strong voice for workers and the candidate who has the best chance of keeping Hawaii’s open Senate seat in Democratic hands.

I’ve been involved in enough elections to know these quarterly reporting deadlines can be make-or-break for any campaign. So, please join with me and workers across Hawaii, by contributing to Mazie’s campaign today.

Let’s show everyone watching this race that Hawaii’s working families are going to back up their public support with the resources Mazie needs to win in 2012.

In solidarity with Hawaii’s middle-class families,

Randy Perreira
Executive Director
Hawaii Government Employees Association
